About the Position
- Clinic Coding Specialist
- Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- Days, no weekends!
- Hybrid: Remote and onsite at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital

Job Summary:
The Clinic Coder codes and abstracts patient information accurately and efficiently in a timely manner.
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
- Abstracts pertinent information from patient records. Assigns ICD-10-CM or HCPCS codes.
- Queries physicians when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous or unclear for coding purposes.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding and working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
- Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements. Brings identified concerns to supervisor or department manager for resolution.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety and environmental standards.
- Ensures strict confidentiality of financial and medical reports.
- Attends coding conferences, workshops, and in-house sessions to receive updated coding information and changes in coding and/or regulations.
- Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Ability to meet production standards as set by the department.
- Codes clinic records with 98% accuracy.
- Enters coded data into the computer system with 98% accuracy.
- Perform other related duties as required. This list is not all-inclusive and any other task or job may be assigned in the future.
If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:
- Within 12 months of hire, minimum of successful completion of a coding certificate program in a program with AHIMA/AAPC approval status or RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or CPC certification or certification eligible status.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
- Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
