Purpose & Scope of The Position:
As a Senior Metallurgist, you will provide technical expertise and support for metallurgical processes, ensuring accurate data analysis and compliance with accounting standards under the direction of the Process and Environmental Manager. During the design and construction phase, you will collaborate with engineering and construction teams to bring processing facilities online. You will help manage processing performance, working closely with operations, ore control, and assay/metallurgical labs to maintain safety and environmental compliance. Responsibilities include identifying and resolving process issues, mentoring junior metallurgists, and supporting the metallurgical strategy during the restart process.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee the design and construction of the mill, Antimony Plant, Silver Refinery, water treatments and tailings facility.
Overseeing the day-to-day metallurgical performance of the plant and mentoring of plant metallurgists.
Conduct testing and collect data to achieve optimization of ore processing in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Maintain accurate metallurgical balances and reporting.
Work closely with mine engineering regarding scheduled ore delivery and grade and communicate in advance any prospective metallurgical problems associated with the type of ore to be delivered to the crushing plant.
Optimize, troubleshoot and implement solutions for metallurgical technical issues affecting plant performance.
Improve plant processes by providing technical information to develop, train and help set operational guidelines.
Perform all activities in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
Required Education, Work Experience & Training:
Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy (extractive metallurgy including mineral processing and hydro metallurgy) or Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive "hands on" professional experience, preferably in the mining industry.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing experience.
Knowledge of metallurgical processes and problem-solving ability design start up, and an-going operations.
Practical experience in a process plant and analytical/metallurgical laboratory environment.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with mine management, engineering, and contractors and be a capable project and task manager.
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
