Job Description
The role of Sheet Metal Foreman involves overseeing project schedules, coordinating with clients and crews, and leading field operations in installing HVAC systems, ductwork, and sheet metal components. They are responsible for interpreting blueprints, sketching drawings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and Smith Co Mechanical LLC stands, and maintaining safety standards. Additionally, they manage material procurement, monitor project progress, and ensure work is completed within budget and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor installation teams, including journeymen, mechanics, and apprentices, fostering a productive work environment
- Project Planning and Execution: Read and interpret and/or create technical drawings and specifications to facilitate fabrication and installation. Maintain communication with clients to address project requirements and build professional relationships
- Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Conduct safety inspections, enforce PPE usage, and ensure adherence to OSHA and company safety standards to minimize risks
- Logistics and Scheduling: Coordinate daily field activities, manage material orders, and track labor hours to optimize workflow efficiency
- Quality Assurance: Perform site inspections during and after installation to verify compliance with design specifications and safety standards
- Communication: Collaborate with crews, project managers, and other trades to resolve on-site issues promptly and effectively
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in sheet metal work, with at least two years in a leadership or foreman capacity managing teams
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, SMACNA standards, blueprint reading, multitasking, and OSHA regulations
- Proficiency with sheet metal tools, power tools
- Experience with software such as Bluebeam, ConnectTeams, Fieldwire, Microsoft Excel, and Word is a plus
- Strong knowledge of remodel and field fabrication experience
Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Any certification that would be useful in our field
