Our organization is seeking a full-time Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist for our Heart and Vascular Institute located in Rapid City.
We aim to enhance our team of exceptional cardiologists by adding a skilled Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to our nationally recognized cardiovascular program. This role provides the ideal work-life balance that you deserve.
The Heart & Vascular Institute has developed into the largest group of cardiovascular specialists in the region, serving Rapid City and surrounding areas. With a team of board-certified physicians, proficient support staff, and top-notch facilities, we deliver a comprehensive range of cardiovascular care, including diagnostic services, ongoing cardiovascular research (currently conducting seven studies focused on heart failure), and a nationally accredited laboratory, all conveniently located. Our facilities feature two cardiac and vascular surgical suites, two catheterization labs, and a hybrid suite equipped with cutting-edge imaging technology.
This dedicated team has received national recognition, including the 2016 Mission: Lifeline® Receiving Center Bronze Plus Recognition and the 2016 National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) ACTION - Registry - GWTG Platinum Performance Awards for four consecutive years. These accolades highlight our commitment to adhering to treatment guidelines that enhance survival rates and minimize readmission rates for heart attack and heart failure patients. Our institute is actively involved in the AHA heart failure guideline registry, having achieved a Bronze award in 2025 and currently pursuing a Silver award. Rapid City has been ranked among the top five in the nation for the lowest readmission rates, according to Medicare standards, as reported by Becker's Hospital Review.
The team includes a Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology physician, a dedicated group of Heart Failure nurse practitioners, outpatient nurses, and an inpatient Heart Failure educator/coordinator, all of whom have completed HFSA courses aligned with the latest heart failure guidelines.
We also provide specialized Heart Failure inpatient and outpatient services, collaborating closely with a collegial Electrophysiology and/or Structural Heart team (including Mitraclip, TAVR, and Triclip), as well as offering Cardiac MRI, mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and we are in the process of establishing our own destination therapy LVAD program.
