Job Details
Position Overview: The Assistant Controller, reporting to the Controller, will be directly responsible for managing the accounting team and month end close process. Managing a team of 3, the Assistant Controller will deliver monthly financial on schedule and with high accuracy to the Controller for review.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the accounting calendar, ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met with accuracy and consistency.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of 3
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Controller to prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for leadership review.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Model and reinforce core values in all aspects of leadership and decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Real estate / property management industry experience
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- 2+ years of accounting leadership experience
- Understanding of US GAAP
- Proficiency in accounting systems
- Proficiency in Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- MRI
- AppFolio
- CPA/MBA
