(Non-Line / Bench Assembly Role)

Gage Bilt Inc., an OEM manufacturer of industrial riveting equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Tool Assembly Technician to join our team.

This role involves precision bench assembly of pneumatic and hydraulic rivet installation tools and nose assemblies.

This is NOT an assembly line or repetitive production role. Candidates whose experience is limited to conveyor-based, or line assembly should not apply.

What This Role Is

  • Low-volume, high-mix mechanical tool assembly
  • Reading prints, following work instructions, and assembling specifications
  • Testing, documenting, troubleshooting, and supporting quality and engineering needs

Required Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, data sheets, and equipment manuals
  • Comfort working independently at a bench rather than in a paced line environment

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assemble tools and components per data sheets, work instructions, and manuals
  • Test assemblies and document results against engineering and quality requirements
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and support product improvements
  • Evaluate and document returned products for warranty and repair analysis
  • Assist with corrective and preventative action investigations
  • Review and suggest updates to manuals for clarity and accuracy
  • Maintain serial number logs and assembly documentation
  • Communicate inventory shortages and assembly concerns to appropriate teams
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Recommend improvements to assembly methods, tooling, and efficiency
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional squatting and kneeling
  • Ability to sit or stand for up to 10 hours per day
  • Strong hand dexterity for small, precision components
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to wear required PPE

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–3 years of mechanical or bench assembly experience strongly preferred
    (Line-only or purely repetitive assembly experience is not sufficient for this role)
