Mount Mfg is an orthopedic contract manufacturing company located in Marquette, MI, operating under an ISO 13485:2016 certified and FDA registered quality system.
Schedule 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Lathe Setup Machinist to operate and troubleshoot sliding headstock CNC Swiss Lathes in our location in Marquette, MI. This role requires precision machining skills, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to mentor junior team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Swiss Lathes (sliding headstock), including tooling installation, offsets, work-holding, and coolant systems (high and low pressure).
- Perform and understand all conventional methods of Swiss machining.
- Execute minor program adjustments (e.g., deburring passes, operation order, speed/feed) as approved by the manager.
- Conduct and document in-process inspection using good documentation practices.
- Assist team members with troubleshooting CNC machining issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Attend pre-production meetings as necessary.
- Act as a leader and mentor to new operators learning CNC machining.
- Maintain a positive team environment and company culture.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Swiss Lathe setup machinist.
- Proven expertise in setting up and troubleshooting CNC Swiss Lathes.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485:2016 quality systems.
- Knowledge of orthopedic contract manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC milling, CNC turning.
Travel Requirements Minimal travel for occasional technical training workshops.
