Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Quality Inspector ensures that all materials and finished products meet established quality standards throughout the production process. This role performs detailed inspections and measurements, supports adherence to ISO and QMS procedures, and collaborates closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement. The Quality Inspector also maintains accurate quality documentation, supports calibration and inspection systems, and helps enhance overall product and process quality across fabrication, paint, and shipping operations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and measure materials and products during production and at final stages to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and in‑process inspections to validate conformance throughout the manufacturing cycle.
  • Conduct daily walk‑throughs across fabrication, paint, and shipping areas to spot check work and assess overall quality.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO internal procedures and QMS standards during every phase of production.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining procedures, forms, documents, and process maps related to quality activities.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for quality issues, including nonconformances, and record corrective actions taken.
  • Notify team leads of defects and assist in analyzing, identifying, and correcting underlying issues.
  • Educate production team members on quality issues and collaborate with team leads to improve product and process quality.
  • Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor operations to ensure they meet production standards and quality requirements.
  • Recommend adjustments to production processes based on inspection findings and quality trends.
  • Accept or reject finished items based on inspection results and established criteria.
  • Discuss inspection results with team members responsible for products to drive understanding and corrective actions.
  • Ensure part quantities match routing and related documentation.
  • Maintain and manage the calibration system for inspection and measurement tools.
  • Maintain the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process and support related documentation control.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and 6S efforts within the facility.
  • Interact with employees to support cross‑training efforts, verify proper training, spot check work, and provide guidance.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks as needed to support inspection and material handling activities.
  • Track individual and/or company key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, and strive for daily improvements.
  • Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication, promptly giving and following directions when working with others.
  • Handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall quality and operational objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in inspection and quality control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and various shop tools for precise measurement and inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Hands‑on experience with visual inspection and quality checks for manufactured components.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and/or automotive quality standards and practices.
  • Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and related inspection techniques.
  • Understanding of welding processes and associated inspection requirements.
  • Strict adherence to ISO procedures and QMS standards.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey inspection results and instructions.
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and dependability, with the ability to switch work areas quickly based on operational needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting First Article Inspections (FAI) and in‑process inspections in a production environment.
  • Experience in environments related to aerospace, automotive, or similar high‑standards industries.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and 6S practices.
  • Experience maintaining and managing calibration systems for inspection equipment.
  • Exposure to Engineering Change Request (ECR) processes and document control.
  • Comfort working with KPIs and metrics to monitor and improve performance.
  • Ability to coach and guide others during cross‑training and quality education efforts.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend process improvements.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing shop environment that includes fabrication, paint, and shipping areas. The position follows a first‑shift schedule, Monday through Thursday, with four 10‑hour workdays. You will frequently move between different areas of the facility to conduct inspections and daily walk‑throughs, and you will work with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and various shop tools, as well as coordinate measuring machines (CMM) where applicable. The work environment emphasizes adherence to ISO and QMS standards, active participation in continuous improvement and 6S efforts, and regular use of computers, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems to document inspections and track metrics. Material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks may be used as needed, and you can expect a production‑oriented setting focused on maintaining high quality and safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Amelia, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
