Job DescriptionJob Description: Radio Frequency Engineer IIPosition SummaryThe Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer II will provide technical expertise and support to the Joint Tactical Networking Center (JTNC) in the areas of RF engineering, spectrum management, and tactical communications. This position focuses on the design, analysis, integration, and testing of RF systems and components to ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards for secure, interoperable, and resilient joint tactical networking.Key Responsibilities

  • - Design, develop, analyze, and test RF communication systems and components for tactical networking applications.
  • - Support integration and verification of RF systems, including waveforms, modems, and antennas, ensuring conformance with DoD standards.
  • - Conduct RF performance and spectrum analyses to evaluate system capabilities, interference, and resiliency against jamming and spoofing.
  • - Collaborate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, and software engineering teams to ensure effective integration of RF technologies.
  • - Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, procedures, conformance reports, and technical analyses.
  • - Provide subject matter expertise in RF engineering to support acquisition, technical reviews, and program documentation requirements.
  • - Assist in the evaluation of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Non-Developmental Item (NDI) RF systems for suitability in DoD environments.
  • - Participate in working groups, technical exchange meetings, and program reviews, including TS/SCI-level sessions, providing RF technical expertise.
  • - Stay current with emerging RF technologies, DoD standards, and open systems architecture frameworks relevant to tactical communications.
  • - Ensure compliance with applicable DoD cybersecurity, spectrum, and interoperability requirements.

QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field with focus in RF communications.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in RF system design, development, testing, or spectrum management.
Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • - Proficiency in RF design, simulation, and analysis tools.
  • - Experience with tactical communications systems, including Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and waveforms.
  • - Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, documentation, and standards such as DoDI 4630.09.
  • - Knowledge of interoperability, open systems architecture (e.g., SOSA, CMOSS, SCA), and spectrum management practices.
  • - Ability to work with classified information up to the TS/SCI level.
  • - Strong communication skills, including the ability to develop and present technical reports, briefs, and recommendations.

Security Requirements

  • TS/SCI required.
