As a Home Health Occupational Therapist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering occupational therapy to patients who struggle with daily tasks due to illness or injury
- Collaborating with a home health team, which may include RNs, LPNs, CNAs, HHAs, PTs, and SLPs, to focus on the patient’s care plan and personal objectives
- Evaluating patients, identifying deficits, setting therapy goals, and documenting progress
- Guiding patients through exercises aimed at enhancing fine motor skills and coordination
- Recommending adaptive equipment, such as grab bars and shower chairs, to provide additional support
- Assessing fall risks and implementing strategies to enhance home safety
- Educating patients and their families about the care plan, exercises, goals, and self-care techniques
Essential Qualifications for Home Health Occupational Therapists:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and possession of an active OT license in California
- At least 1 year of experience in occupational therapy, preferably in home healthcare settings
- Current CPR certification [and any additional relevant certifications]
- Familiarity with state and federal home health regulations
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and a compassionate, resourceful nature
