SUMMARY: The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing comprehensive inspections across a range of characteristics—visual, dimensional, and documentation-based—to verify conformance to engineering drawings, internal specifications, and customer requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform visual, physical, and dimensional inspections of mechanical components and assemblies at various stages of the manufacturing process (first article, in-process, final).
- Inspect both attribute (e.g., visual defects, surface finish) and variable (e.g., exact dimensional measurements) characteristics per technical documentation.
- Use a wide range of precision measurement instruments including micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM), as required.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of documentation packages including inspection records, material certifications, special process certifications, and work travelers.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements with moderate supervision.
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately in accordance with internal procedures and applicable standards (e.g., AS9100).
- Identify, document, and escalate nonconformities, support quality team in root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.
- Assist in calibration verification of inspection tools and gages as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; actively participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be capable of reading drawings and inspecting the work being performed.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings/blueprints
- Excellent documentation skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and managing files and folders in Windows
- Customer service oriented
- Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 and AS9145 quality standards a plus
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Secondary education (degree, associate’s degree or institutional/vocational training) an asset
- 3–5 years of experience in a mechanical inspection, quality control, or related manufacturing role an asset
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Authorization to work in the United States. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, you should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
