We have a new opening for a full time Nurse Practitioner - Pediatrics at Nellis AFB in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Core Duties:

  • Perform a full range of privileged provider services in accordance with privileges granted by the facility.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health care providers.
  • Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.

  • Perform therapeutic procedures and prescribe pediatric treatment and medications based on assessment results and standards of care within the scope of practice of a pediatric nurse practitioner as defined and approved on the provider privileges list. Privileges scope of care and standards of practice guidelines are as defined by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP).
  • Examines, diagnoses, and treats acute episodic and chronic diseases, minor traumas and behavioral/psychological problems of newborns, infants, children, and adolescents up to 21 years. Identifies and manages specific pediatric illnesses.
  • Prepares and reviews case histories and clinical records of newborns, infants, children and adolescents up to age 21 Secures a health and developmental history from the patient or parent; records findings and makes critical evaluation.
  • Examines patients, determines need for radiological examinations and clinical
  • Laboratory tests and interprets examinations findings and test Also, performs or requests special screening and developmental tests and interprets the results. Provides notification to patients of results and adjusts the treatment plans as clinically warranted.
  • Evaluates total health care needs of patients and develops a plan to meet these needs. Teach patients and family members different ways to maintain or improve their health
  • Provides healthcare and preventative services to pediatric patients and their family members, including age specific anticipatory guidance in growth and development, nutrition, common illnesses, safety, and discipline.
  • Evaluates clinical practice and collaborates with health care team members as the Primary Care Manager to improve patient delivery for an empanelment of pediatric
  • Makes appropriate referrals to general pediatrician, family practice physician, and/or specialty physician as warranted.
  • Leads a healthcare team involving front desk/administrative staff, medical technicians and clinical nursing staff to provide comprehensive and preventive healthcare to patients and screens/manages patient population for chronic disease and other developmental and preventive care issues based on recommendations from national standards of practice and CPGs.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 4:30pm, 9 hour shift to include a 1 hour lunch break. Not to exceed 40 hours per week.

Shift Structure: Daily shifts will be assigned as 8, 10, or 12-hour durations to meet mission needs. All shifts include a minimum 30-minute uncompensated lunch break.

Schedule Management: The specific work schedule is determined by the Government supervisor.

No Holidays/Possible Weekends/No Call

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master's or doctoral degree in nursing specialization as a pediatric nurse practitioner accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

Experience: Must be able to demonstrate clinical competency within the past two years in pediatric primary healthcare as required for this position. Must have knowledge of professional nursing theories, principles, practices, and procedures of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners; a variety of pharmacological agents to prescribe for patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications for their use; comprehensive knowledge of pediatric dosages and precautions; administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s health and medical conditions including explanation of procedures to patients and their parents, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.

Licensure: Active, unrestricted license as an NP in any state

Board Certification: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners).

Licensure: Possess current unrestricted RN License from any state.

Life Support Certification: Maintain current BLS and PALS Healthcare Provider certification from AHA or ARC.

Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Base salary: $60.00 - $70.00/hr depending on experience; $100.00/hr as a 1099 contractor.

Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 payable with first paycheck
