We are currently seeking:
An Animal Services Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage the City's animal services division to administer field operations, shelter operations, and client services to citizens and organizations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and coordinating Animal Services operations including field operations, ordinance enforcement, program administration, case management, shelter operations, regulatory compliance, client services, and community outreach programs.
- Leading and/or participating in the development, implementation, and administration of Animal Services policies and procedures in accordance with internal and other agency requirements; establishing goals, objectives, and priorities.
- Reviewing and monitoring legislative changes and/or mandates impacting Animal Services' programming; coordinates the implementation of Animal Services' initiatives.
- Developing, administering, and monitoring assigned budgets; calculating, preparing, and submitting budget requests and amendments as necessary.
- Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of assigned personnel; monitors and ensures staff compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Administering and coordinating the promotion and delivery of Animal Services' programming; develops program marketing and outreach.
- Liaising with outside agencies and community organizations regarding client referrals and/or the delivery of program services.
- Addressing and facilitating the timely and effective resolution of client issues and complaints.
- Preparing and maintaining various types of program records, reports, and documentation; monitoring and maintaining compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements.
- Managing the activities and functions of the City animal services employees; prioritizing and assigning tasks and projects; tracking and reviewing work activities; training staff and evaluating work performance.
- Administering lifesaving programming to maintain the human-animal bond and ensure the health and safety of San Angeloans and their pets.

Requirements and Skills:
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with staff, City departments, outside agencies, contractors, vendors, and the general public.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and problem-solving under pressure.
- Ability to diffuse heated encounters, both human and animal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in health sciences, or related field preferred; AND five years' experience in municipal sheltering; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- Certification from recognized organization preferred.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
