Social Services Supervisor


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Social Services Supervisor to oversee social service operations, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality service delivery to clients. This role requires strong leadership, compliance oversight, and the ability to manage complex cases while meeting contractual and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain professional relationships with clients while ensuring strict confidentiality.
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions and all standard protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and City security and privacy regulations related to protected health information.
  • Ensure newly admitted clients receive a social service intake within 48 hours of assignment.
  • Monitor and track client intakes and move-outs using DHS rosters and maintain daily updates to the master roster.
  • Oversee all ACS cases, ensuring monthly tracking forms are completed and submitted to DHS.
  • Review and maintain accurate ACS client rosters.
  • Coordinate with community agencies and participate in high-risk case conferences as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with peers across programs regarding client progress.
  • Understand all contract requirements and communicate expectations clearly to staff.
  • Supervise a minimum of four direct-report staff and their teams to ensure clients complete required tasks related to entitlements, employment, and housing.
  • Set and monitor realistic monthly performance goals in alignment with contract requirements (ILPs, inspections, ACS cases, LTS families, housing placements).
  • Coach and support staff on effective client engagement strategies to maintain eligibility for housing subsidies.
  • Conduct weekly client progress reviews with staff.
  • Perform internal chart reviews and implement quality assurance measures.
  • Respond promptly to critical incidents.
  • Access and manage client data using various tracking systems (CTS, NYC Way, 4002 System).
  • Prepare contract reports and statistical data for management and funders.
  • Analyze program and demographic data to support program improvements.
  • Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for staff development.
  • Support the Senior Program Manager with program oversight as needed.
  • Attend staff, funder, and external agency meetings.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings with social service staff.
  • Review and approve timesheets.
  • Complete performance evaluations for direct-report staff.
  • Support marketing, outreach, and networking efforts as needed.
  • May carry a small caseload or additional program responsibilities.
  • Duties may be modified or expanded as program needs evolve.


Minimum Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree with three years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Licensure required for applicable degrees: LMSW or LCSW, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, or Art Therapy.


Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of relevant supervisory or program experience.
  • Strong managerial, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with change management, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to meet clearance requirements for off-site or school-based work, if applicable (fingerprinting, SCR clearance, TB test, medical clearance).
  • Availability for on-call coverage 24/7.
  • Must sign NYC DOH/MH attestation confirming no founded child abuse reports.
  • CPR/First Aid certification may be required.
  • Overdose prevention certification may be required.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
