Technical Writer

Professional Stewards Services is seeking an energetic, self-starter to join our growing team to support our technical writing efforts.

Work location: Washington DC, Remote work

Salary: up to $110,000

Hours: Full time

Education Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field like engineering or computer science, or in a field emphasizing writing and communication such as English or Journalism is preferred.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • 7+ Years as a Technical Writer.
  • Expertise in regulatory writing and policy analysis relevant to federal rulemaking documents and handbooks.
  • Ability to understand and quickly learn complex technical concepts and use relevant tools and software (Adobe, Word).
  • Proficiency in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing technical information from various sources.
  • Meticulousness in ensuring accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to style guides.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a public trust security clearance.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a consulting environment or client-facing role.
  • Experience in the federal government sector.
  • Ability to work from home productively.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Convey complex technical information clearly and concisely, adapting the writing style to the audience.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize technical information from various sources.
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to style guides.
  • Identify and address challenges in the documentation process, analyze complex information, and anticipate potential user issues.
  • Plan, manage, and deliver documentation projects efficiently, often under tight deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
