Position Description

The Department of Internal Medicine, specifically the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, is seeking to hire one full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in either the Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Faculty members in the Clinical X series are expected to participate in professional activities, teaching, research, and community service. Those in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series will focus on teaching, professional activities, scholarly work, and community service.

Expectations

This role will primarily focus on delivering exceptional general gastroenterology care while also educating medical students, residents, and fellows. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing gastroenterology consultations and endoscopic services at outpatient facilities in the greater Sacramento area, as well as participating in on-call duties at the UC Davis Medical Center. Educational responsibilities will include overseeing consultations and procedures performed by fellows, residents, and medical students, in addition to delivering lectures to various groups.

The division boasts strong programs in motility, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), advanced endoscopy, and a newly established liver transplant program. Clinical research is supported by the GI Clinical Research Unit, which includes 8 research coordinators and staff managing over 50 studies. The division has a rich history of providing excellent patient care and medical education, recently expanding its training program to accommodate 12 GI Fellows and 1 Advanced Endoscopy Fellow.

UC Davis Health serves a vast area of 65,000 square miles, encompassing 33 counties and 6 million residents in Northern and Central California. The UC Davis Medical Center is a hospital with over 600 beds, currently undergoing further expansion, including the development of an innovation hub, Aggie Square, and the 14-story California Tower.
