Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a licensed Retail Pharmacist for a short-term assignment in Cordova, Alaska, supporting a critical access hospital pharmacy. The role involves dispensing medications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing direct patient counseling in a remote healthcare setting. This position requires independence, strong clinical judgment, and adaptability to rural healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Review prescriptions for dosage accuracy, interactions, and appropriateness
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and adherence
- Manage retail pharmacy operations and workflow at dispensing window
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical teams for patient care coordination
- Maintain complete and accurate pharmacy records and documentation
- Oversee medication inventory, storage, and ordering processes
- Ensure compliance with hospital and pharmacy regulatory standards
- Deliver high-quality patient service in a small community healthcare environment
Required Qualifications
- Active Alaska Pharmacist License
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug safety, and medication therapy management
- Ability to work independently in a remote facility
- Strong communication and patient counseling skills
- High attention to detail and regulatory compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior retail pharmacy experience
- Hospital pharmacy experience
- Experience working in rural or critical access healthcare settings
