Job DescriptionEssential Functions
The job duties and responsibilities of the position of Plant Healthcare Technician include, but are not limited to, assisting the Head Gardener with:
- Supporting the Master Arborist with arboricultural activities when required
- Supporting other teams within the organization when required
- Oversite of seasonal staff in a professional manner when Head Gardener is not present
- Work alongside Head Gardener while planning and executing gardens and flower beds
- Work with Head Gardener to obtain insight on the purchase of plants and material
- Care and maintenance of all flower beds, pots and hanging baskets
- Harvesting and maintenance of vegetable gardens, blueberry & raspberry patches, and landscape beds
- Care for indoor plants at residence and Corporate location
- Recording and distribution of vegetables and fruits
- Proper use and care of all garden equipment
- Ability to detect pest or disease problems and report to supervisor
- Maintain a professional manner at all times
- Treat all company equipment and vehicles responsibly
- Exhibit adequate communication skills
- Assist as requested in special events at corporate location and other locations as requested.
Competencies and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years working in horticulture environment preferred
- Category 3C pesticide applicator or willing to obtain
- Current certification for OSHA 10, or willing to obtain
- Knowledge of harvesting and maintenance of plants and vegetables
- Reliability and positive work ethic
- Open and creative mindset
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to take and give direction
- Strong team leader and player
- Demonstrates willingness to grow in position including attendance at training classes preferred
- Ability to work in all types of weather
