Job DescriptionSalary: $46,800-$74,034 based on experience

Position Description

The Music Teacher/Interventionist plays a critical role in supporting the holistic development of every child. Reporting to the Assistant Principal, they provide high-quality instruction and/or targeted interventions that align with the schools vision and support both student growth and equity-focused outcomes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Designs and delivers high-quality, inclusive enrichment experiences

  • Develops and implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate lessons in Music
  • Incorporates Montessori values and materials where appropriate to deepen student engagement
  • Plans units that reflect ABAR (Anti-Bias/Anti-Racist) principles and elevate the traditions, histories, and voices of all students
  • Encourages student agency, choice, and reflection in the creative process
  • Supports school-wide enrichment initiatives and events (e.g., performances, exhibitions, field days)



Provides Tier 2 and/or 3 academic intervention aligned with student needs

  • Delivers small-group or individual instruction in literacy and/or math
  • Uses data and observation to identify learning needs and monitor student growth
  • Works collaboratively with classroom teachers to support academic follow-up during the work cycle
  • Participates in MTSS meetings and aligns interventions to school-wide goals and progress monitoring protocols
  • Supports both push-in and pull-out models of intervention as needed



Promotes positive school culture and student development

  • Establishes a joyful, respectful learning environment where students feel seen, safe, and valued
  • Contributes to the reinforcement of school-wide expectations and rituals
  • Builds meaningful relationships with students that support social-emotional learning
  • Participates in community celebrations, performances, or showcases that uplift student identity and creativity



Collaborates with colleagues and engages in continuous improvement

  • Meets regularly with classroom guides, coaches, and leadership to align on goals and student progress
  • Participates in professional development, including ABAR, SEEL (Social, Emotional, and Equity Learning), and content-specific learning
  • Seeks feedback and coaching to improve instructional practice
  • Maintains student records, intervention logs, and instructional materials



Additional Responsibilities

  • Participates in school operations such as arrival/dismissal, recess, and field trips
  • Maintains classroom organization and care of materials and spaces
  • Assists with school-wide projects or administrative tasks as assigned

Qualications

  • Bachelors degree required; relevant certification or endorsement in content area preferred
  • Minimum of two years of teaching or intervention experience in an urban or public charter setting
  • Experience with the Montessori Method strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and ABAR-aligned teaching practices
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and adapt to changing needs

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the classroom and outdoor spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time with little or no assistance.
  • Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
