Job Overview

An Academic Radiation Physicist is responsible for ensuring high-quality care in the application of radiation-producing sources and imaging technology. This role also involves supporting clinical research protocols and engaging in educational activities. The duties of the Radiation Physicist will be guided by the Division Chief and local hospital leadership.

QualificationsRequired

  • A Ph.D. or M.S. in medical physics, physics, or a related field is mandatory.
  • The ideal candidate must be board certified or eligible, with proven clinical experience in an academic medical environment.
    • Board-eligible candidates should be enrolled in or have completed a medical physics residency program.
  • Post-residency experience (0-10 years) in conventional radiotherapy, 3-D and IMRT treatment planning, high and low dose rate brachytherapy, knowledge of Linac operations, and a strong commitment to patient care, education, and clinical research are essential.

Preferred

  • Preference will be given to candidates with clinical experience and those who have completed a CAMPEP accredited residency program.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are highly desirable.

Schedule Requirements

  • The primary work location will be in Hamilton, NJ, with support for other facilities as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all aspects of radiation oncology physics responsibilities, including equipment calibration, clinical support, quality assurance, compliance with safety regulations, treatment planning, and dosimetry.
  • Deliver radiation services with the utmost professionalism, adhering to established quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
  • Provide radiation services at various medical centers across New Jersey.
  • Maintain productivity by actively participating in the Division's clinical workload as per established benchmarks.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and assist in patient enrollment for clinical trials.
  • Engage in teaching activities for medical and physics residents, dosimetry, and therapy students, as well as delivering targeted lectures to attending physicians.
  • Assist in the recruitment of faculty, fellows, and staff.
  • Attend mandatory meetings as required by the institution and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief or local hospital leadership.
