Overview
The Psychiatric Technician provides direct patient care and support under the supervision of licensed nursing staff in correctional or behavioral health settings. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, promoting hygiene, conducting safety rounds, and responding to behavioral emergencies. The role supports clinical treatment teams by observing and documenting patient behavior, administering delegated nursing tasks, and helping maintain a safe environment. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to patient care and safety. Experience in mental health settings, especially within corrections, is highly preferred.
Responsibilities

Assist patients with basic care activities while promoting hygiene and monitoring well-being

Conduct safety rounds and behavioral observations to support a secure environment

Respond to emergency situations, including administering first aid or performing restraints

Carry out delegated nursing tasks such as collecting specimens and taking vital signs

Follow infection control procedures and document patient status accurately
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- High school and specialized training for licensing/certification(s)
EXPERIENCE
- Experience facilitating groups with Mental Health patients
- One year of experience; within a correctional/detention facility preferred
