Job Description
This role focuses on operating CNC mills and lathes within a modern manufacturing facility. You will run a small cell of machines, load bar stock, monitor production, and perform minor quality checks to ensure parts meet specification. The position is hands-on, physically active, and integral to maintaining consistent, high-quality output on the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Run a cell of 2–3 CNC mills and/or lathes throughout the shift to meet production goals.
- Load bar stock and other raw materials into CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate CNC equipment according to established procedures and work instructions.
- Perform minor quality control checks on parts to verify they meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints and prints to understand part requirements and specifications.
- Monitor machine performance during operation and report issues or abnormalities to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
- Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Support consistent production flow by preparing materials and equipment for upcoming jobs.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to maintain high standards of quality and productivity.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of CNC operating experience on mills or lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and prints accurately.
- Ability to perform minor quality control checks on parts to ensure they meet specification.
- Capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily work.
- Basic understanding of CNC machine operation and production workflows.
- Attention to detail when inspecting parts and monitoring machine performance.
- Reliability in following safety procedures and standard operating instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience performing minor machine offsets and adjustments.
- Familiarity with both CNC mills and CNC lathes.
- Comfort working in a high-output manufacturing environment with consistent overtime.

Work Environment
This position operates on 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with the potential for a half-day on Friday and an average workweek of about 50 hours. The facility is clean and well lit, creating a comfortable and safe setting for precision manufacturing work. You will work on CNC mills and lathes within a production cell, handling bar stock and finished parts throughout the shift. The environment is structured yet team-oriented, with an emphasis on consistent output, quality, and maintaining an orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Porte, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
