At Trilap Precision Finishing, every thousandth of an inch matters. As a Precision Lapping Machinist, you’ll shape, measure, and perfect components that our customers rely on—working in a clean, organized environment where safety and quality come first.
A Day in the Life
Your day starts early and runs smoothly: Monday–Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You’ll set up and run lapping machines, loading and unloading parts while alternating between sitting and standing work. Between cycles, you’ll verify dimensions, keep meticulous identification and lot segregation, and document any irregularities.
What You’ll Do
- Lap parts to meet precise customer specifications.
- Measure parts between cycles to verify progress.
- Clean parts thoroughly and prepare them for next steps.
- Keep equipment and the work area clean and free of debris.
- Detect, segregate, and report nonconforming material and foreign object debris (FOD).
- Control nonconforming material and complete required documentation.
- Maintain accurate part identification and lot segregation at all times.
- Inspect work against prints, callouts, and specifications.
- Accurately report any damaged or nonconforming parts to team leaders/Manager.
- Assist with packaging and shipping of finished parts.
- Report any safety concerns encountered during normal job activities.

- Strong manual dexterity and endurance for standing for extended periods.
- Exceptional attention to detail, cleanliness, and organizational habits.
- Safety-focused mindset with a proven safe work record.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD basic GD&T knowledge is a plus.
- Proficiency with inspection tools: dial indicators, gage blocks, micrometers, and related equipment.
- Clear, effective communication skills.
Training & Education
- Specific training required: Familiarity with Trilap forms and procedures.
- Education: High School diploma (vocational or non-vocational) or GED.

Direct Supervisor: General Manager
Physical & Work Environment
- Must be able to lift and move machined parts.
- Clean, relatively quiet work areas; hearing protection required in some areas.
- Eye hazard potential; eye protection required for certain operations.
Overtime
Occasional overtime as workload requires.
