POSITION DESCRIPTION
Alpha 3 is seeking a Civil Engineer to support power delivery and power generation projects through site development, grading, drainage, and permitting work. The Civil Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to design and analyze infrastructure for new and existing utility and industrial facilities. Typical responsibilities include preparing calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and permit packages related to stormwater systems, roadway access, site layout, and earthwork.
Engineers in this role will also coordinate with project managers, contractors, utility clients, and permitting agencies to ensure technically sound and constructible designs. Depending on project scope, the engineer may guide junior staff and support field verification and construction coordination efforts.
This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. Three days per week (typically Tuesday-Thursday) are expected to be in the office and two days per week from home. Preferred office locations are in Hamilton, NJ, other office locations may be available, depending on the candidate’s qualifications.
Required qualifications include:
- Undergraduate degree in civil engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited program
- A master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on power/energy infrastructure and at least two years of relevant civil engineering experience on substations and various utility projects or at least five years of experience supporting civil design for substations, power plants, or transmission and distribution projects
- PE license, or the ability to obtain one once experience requirements are met
- Experience with site development, grading, access roads, stormwater management, oil containment, and utility drainage systems
- Familiarity with permitting processes and agency coordination for utility-scale projects
- Ability to perform site visits and walkdowns as required
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and design tools such as StormCad, PondPack, and AutoTurn
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects
- Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback
- Ability to adapt to various client standards and procedures
- Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
- Attention to detail and pride in work product quality
COMPENSATION
Salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant. Available benefits include:
