DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

REPORTS TO: HR Director

FLSA STATUS: Full-time Non - Exempt

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside has been proudly serving children and families since 1967. We are one of the premier non-profits in the Inland Empire and looking for an incredible Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic team. We are a highly driven and mission-focused organization in need of an energetic, people-focused, organized, and committed professional to fill the critical role of HR Generalist II. The Club’s impact extends throughout several sites across the Inland Empire, Redlands, and areas of the High Desert.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Our newest Human Resources Generalist I will report to the HR Director and collaborate with the HR Generalist II and management to support operations by administering programs and providing guidance that ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and aligns with the Boys & Girls Club’s mission and values.

The HR Generalist I will implement and administer key HR initiatives, programs, and policies, including Offboarding and Separations, Leave of Absence Administration, Employee Relations Support, Workers’ Compensation Assistance, Performance Management Tracking, HR Compliance Monitoring, and Employee Engagement and Recognition Programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Management team to ensure people strategies align while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Boys and Girls Club’s mission and values.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support.
  • Provide management with counseling, coaching, feedback, and solutions on the full range of human capital management issues/concerns.
  • Assist in the resolution of employee issues and conflicts, escalating matters to the HR Generalist II and HR Director as necessary.
  • Partner closely with the management team to provide strategic and tactical support on all key HR activities and change initiatives.
  • Review and interpret Boys & Girls Club policies and procedures with management and employees as needed.
  • Ensure all appropriate employee records are collected and transferred to the Employee files accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Monitor identify and report incidents of potential employment violations immediately to the HR Director.
  • Facilitate offboarding whether it be voluntary or involuntary in collaboration with HR Generalist II and HR Director as needed.
  • Respond to inquiries, emergencies, or injuries involving employees, volunteers, or students.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in employee, student, and management items.
  • Ensure employee's information is properly managed in company HRIS.
  • Assist the HR Generalist II in worker’s compensation reporting and disability process including effective tracking and follow-up mechanisms.
  • Monitor Leaves of Absence, including FFCRA, FMLA, STD, and LTD, and work with vendors as necessary.
  • In collaboration with management support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals and objectives. Provide training opportunities to the management team and to the employees that support the understanding and use of principles and techniques that assure inclusiveness amongst all diverse members of our team and our members.
  • Support and coordinate employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
  • Track, launch, and monitor monthly and annual performance review cycles, ensuring timely completion and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Assist with planning annual All Staff Training and Leadership training. Ensure the organization’s HR and Training processes comply with BGCA membership guidelines.
  • Assist with tracking all trainings and update the necessary managers to ensure staff are current.
  • Encourages proactive strategies for responding to employee relations issues to minimize potential expenses.
  • Assist with special HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure a productive work environment that encourages positive, effective working relationships and open communications that are respectful of the gender and cultural diversity of Club employees, volunteers, and members. Takes prompt, appropriate action to respond to conflicts between employees.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the HR department and the Boys & Girls Club mission.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field preferred. Human Resources certification is a plus.
  • 3 years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar role. including employee relations, coaching, counseling, leadership development, talent management, and legal compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of California and Federal HR regulations including Wage & Hour, Title VII, FLMA, CFRA, ADA, etc. to ensure compliance.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems – ADP preferable
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage broad-scope job responsibilities.

TRAVEL:

Local travel is required. Candidate will need to have reliable transportation throughout the Riverside and San Bernardino County area.

COMMITMENT TO SAFETY:

  • Contribute to an environment of safety through the learning implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices, and proactive communication.
  • Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
  • Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices.

Environment

Normal internal office environment with frequent need to travel to club locations within the Inland Empire area. Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
