Job Description

Construction Estimator

Location: Nashville, TN
Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 base (More for the right candidate) + Commission / Performance Bonus + Benefits + Perks

Overview:
We are recruiting on behalf of a premier residential construction firm for a sharp, driven Estimator / Purchasing Coordinator. This hybrid role blends cost estimating with procurement. You'll influence project profitability, negotiate with vendors, and contribute to the success of custom home builds.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze architectural plans, specifications, and scope of work to prepare detailed cost estimates (materials, labor, subs).

  • Generate proposals, bid packages, and estimates for new projects, change orders, and upgrades.

  • Maintain and build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners; solicit competitive quotes.

  • Manage procurement: issue purchase orders, track deliveries, resolve vendor issues, and ensure material timing aligns with project schedules.

  • Monitor variance between estimates vs. actuals; recommend adjustments or corrective actions.

  • Support operations and project teams in budget reviews, cost tracking, and forecasting.

  • Assist in maintaining an up-to-date cost database, supplier catalogs, and trending metrics.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in residential construction estimating and/or procurement (luxury/custom home experience preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, costs, labor rates, and trade markets in the region.

  • Proficient with estimating software and construction management tools (experience with BuilderTrend or JobTread is a plus).

  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.

Compensation & Incentives:

  • Competitive base salary aligned with experience.

  • Performance-based commission or bonus structure (e.g. % of gross margin improvements, cost savings, bid win rate).

  • Benefits package: health/dental/vision, 401(k) or retirement plan.

  • Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave).

  • Professional development opportunities and pathway to leadership roles.

  • Team environment and exposure to high-end custom residential projects.
