Job Description

Degree in Radiologic Technology, Certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT Certification), and minimum 1+ years MRI experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Perform advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures in a busy hospital environment that serves high-acuity patients, including those with pacemakers and anesthesia cases. This contract role in Virginia Beach, VA, offers the opportunity to apply specialized MRI expertise while working closely with Radiologists and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities include conducting MRI scans per established protocols, ensuring patient safety according to magnetic resonance principles, and confirming the accuracy of all patient and procedural information. You will select appropriate MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters, provide direct patient care and clear instructions before, during, and after procedures, and administer contrast agents as required. Troubleshooting equipment issues independently is essential, as is contributing to staff training and supporting students in the MRI department.

Key qualifications and experience:

Registered in MRI with ARRT certification (MR), or able to obtain within one year of hire
Minimum of 2 years MRI experience in a hospital setting
Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking and excellent customer service skills
Familiarity with GE MRI equipment and Medtronic pacemaker-compatible systems
Comfortable with rotating 4x10 day shifts, weekend, holiday, and overnight call coverage (includes two 24-hour Sunday calls per month)
Preferred knowledge of EPIC EHR and PACS systems
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred before providing direct patient care

Schedule:

Four 10-hour shifts with varied rotation schedules
Weekend and holiday call coverage required
Overnight call from shift end until 7 a.m.
