Your Impact: Strategic & Clinical Leadership

  • Shape the Future of Care: You will serve as a leader on an interdisciplinary specialty team, contributing to policy and practice guidelines by evaluating best practices and treatment outcomes. You will also educate the wider community on services and best practices related to your specialty.
  • Transformative Assessment and Treatment: You will provide comprehensive psychological assessments using personal interviews, record reviews, third-party interviews, and/or formal evaluation procedures. This includes classifying mental health diagnoses, identifying core problems, and determining intervention plans to optimize psychological service. You must be able to assess and intervene effectively in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Therapeutic Excellence: Deliver psychological treatment (individual, group, or family) to aid patients in relieving emotional distress/psychiatric symptoms, clarifying goals/priorities, expanding social support networks, and finding adaptive solutions to current life problems.
  • Collaborative Consultation: Partner with referring providers and professional colleagues to address patients' psychological and social needs. This may involve receiving or making referrals to external or other internal service providers for follow-up care.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Service Optimization: Identify and analyze the design of services—including counseling, assessments, and patient access processes—to implement or recommend appropriate changes that improve customer service, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Patient-Centered Approach: You will modify your approach, communication, and interaction to account for sensory impairments and specific needs of all customers, particularly older adults.
  • Documentation & Integrity: Maintain a thorough written record of all therapy/counseling sessions, including comprehensive reports on presenting problems, current needs, and documentation of all relevant contacts, strictly observing confidentiality laws and objectives.
  • Professional Governance: Proactively stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in clinical psychology through professional development activities. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and laws (state/federal) impacting the Psychology area. Develop and monitor internal controls to promote adherence to all accreditation and legal requirements.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Specialized Expertise: Defined as a psychologist providing services in a highly specialized area (e.g., child, palliative, pain addictions, corrections, etc.). Requires explicit training, supervision, and clinical experience or certification working directly in the specialty area, including dedicated specialty setting training (practicum, internship, post-doctoral training, and/or fellowship). Must possess the breadth and depth of training to provide treatment thoroughly and accurately, with significant experience handling a variety of cases from start to finish. Must possess sound and applied knowledge of the development of the symptoms being treated and be trained in evidence-based specialized treatments (EBSTs) (certification preferred).
  • Foundational Knowledge: Requires familiarity with Clinical Psychology and competency in basic psychological assessment techniques, psychotherapeutic intervention, family systems, and developmental orientation.
