Job Description
Inter-Coastal Electronics (ICE) is establishing a U.S.-based battery and power-systems sales and manufacturing capability built on its long-standing collaboration with Epsilor Electric Fuel, a globally recognized supplier of advanced military batteries with decades of operational history in the global military battery market.
We are seeking a technically fluent, high-energy Business Development Manager to accelerate U.S. market penetration—leveraging Epsilor’s mature product heritage, ICE’s U.S. manufacturing and defense credentials, and existing customer relationships to drive new program wins and long-term growth. This role is ideal for a proven “builder” - someone who can operate independently, hunt for opportunity, and translate technical capability into executable business while navigating long, complex defense sales cycles. The position is remote-eligible within the U.S., with frequent travel to customers, trade shows, and industry events. This is primarily a sales/capture role with end-to-end pipeline ownership; marketing support activities are secondary with a team to back you up.
Responsibilities:
- Drive measurable sales growth by identifying, qualifying, and pursuing battery and power-system opportunities across U.S. DoD, primes, and defense-focused OEMs
- Establish ICE’s presence in the U.S. market for advanced military batteries and power subsystems
- Actively prospect new programs, platforms, and modernization efforts—operating as a hunter, not an order-taker
- Track defense budgets, program funding, and acquisition timelines to identify real buying opportunities
- Represent ICE at defense and aerospace trade shows, conferences, and industry forums
- Conduct regular customer visits to build relationships, uncover requirements, and position ICE solutions early
- Deliver technically credible product briefings tailored to customer missions and constraints
- Gather and relay customer and competitive intelligence to engineering and leadership
- Work with the rest of the marketing team to develop marketing materials, website updates, and track online leads
- Develop sufficient technical mastery of battery chemistry, charging systems, power electronics, ruggedization, qualification, and lifecycle support to sell credibly
- Position ICE offerings against competitors based on performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance
- Collaborate with marketing, engineering, and operations to shape solutions that are both competitive and executable
- Lead or support responses to RFIs, RFPs, and ROMs, including pricing and value propositions
- Manage opportunities through CRM, maintaining accurate pipeline, forecasts, and pursuit status
- Communicate both detailed opportunity data and high-level business outlook to leadership
- Operate independently under tight timelines while knowing when to pull in internal support
Knowledge/Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of BD/sales experience in the defense market (DoD/primes/defense OEMs), ideally with complex subsystems.
- Experience in military or commercial batteries and power systems strongly preferred.
- Comfort operating in long-cycle, technically driven sales processes involving government and primes
- Preferred capture/proposal experience (RFI/RFP, ROMs, capture planning)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Engineering degree strongly preferred (EE/ME/ChemE/Materials or similar)
- Strong technical curiosity and ability to learn and articulate complex systems
- Ability to tell a compelling technical and business story, not just distribute marketing material
- Familiarity with defense acquisition processes, budgets, and contracting structures
- Engineering, manufacturing, or operational background is a strong plus
- Prior military experience is a strong plus
- Go-getter mentality with disciplined execution
- High intellectual flexibility; thrives in ambiguity and evolving strategy
- Confident, direct communicator willing to ask hard questions
- Personable, credible, and trusted by both customers and internal teams
