Job Opportunity
We are currently seeking qualified Mental Health Clinical Faculty (part-time) for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program located in Lanai, Hawaii.
This teaching role will be conducted onsite within a clinical setting in collaboration with one of our clinical partners. The typical schedule consists of 12-hour shifts (7 AM to 7 PM) for three to four consecutive days.
Course Overview: Mental Health Nursing
This course emphasizes the dynamics of individual functioning within society. Key topics include anxiety, self-concept, thought disorders, mood changes, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction, and issues related to abuse and violence. Additionally, it addresses health promotion and wellness, focusing on stress management and personal development. The curriculum also incorporates therapeutic communication techniques, individual and group therapy practices, and community mental health resources.

Key Responsibilities
As a clinical instructor, your duties will include:
- Implementing the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical instruction and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
- Taking responsibility for all independent aspects of individual teaching assignments.
- Planning clinical experiences and providing direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students as they deliver care to individuals or groups.
- Assessing and providing documented feedback to students regarding their performance in relation to course objectives.
- Being available for student remediation as necessary.
- Staying informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with support from agency/clinical personnel.
- Creating and posting written clinical assignments that align with students' knowledge, skill levels, and individual learning needs.
- Timely grading of homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work.
- Possibly teaching didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
- Keeping the course coordinator updated on all student and agency-related issues and concerns.
- Reporting to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
Qualifications

- A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
- An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Hawaii.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience as a registered nurse within the last five years in the relevant instructional area.
- Preferred but not mandatory teaching or precepting experience.
- A genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning.
- Exceptional subject matter expertise along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Visiting Professor Position - Campus
In compliance with pay transparency laws, the anticipated compensation for this role ranges from $560 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the credit hours associated with the course.
Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors permitted by law, including course type, experience, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market conditions, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
