Schedule/Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00a - 5:00p
Key Functions
1. Provide leadership in delivery of nursing care on the assigned program
- Create and maintain a work climate that encourages positive nursing staff morale, motivation and commitment
- Role model effective interdisciplinary collaboration
- Provide effective mentorship and supervision of charge nurses, staff nurses,mental health specialists and administrative assistants
- Influence nurses’ professional autonomy through shared governance
- Ensure effective orientation and staff development activities
- Daily staffing pattern matches program operational plan
2. Exhibit leadership in professional practice
- Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning
- Maintain active participation in professional organization
- Insure current clinical knowledge and application to patient care
- Interprets unit acuity and adjusts patient care and staffing as needed; utilizes staffing advisory committee as guide
e. Ensures effective written and verbal communication
f. Incorporates evidence-based practice approach to patient care
g. Ensures utilization of informatics for information management and technology
3. Supports organizational goals and interdepartmental operations
- Relationship management
- Collaborates with clinical leaders to ensure continuity of patient care
- Leads quality and safety initiatives for the program and the organization
- Tracks nursing quality indicators for assigned program and establishes action plan for identified deficiencies
Education Required: Completion of an NLN or CCNE accredited BSN program or Bachelor’s in a healthcare related field or Masters of Science in Nursing/Healthcare or Business Administration.
License/Certification: Current license to practice nursing in the State of Texas. Board certified in psychiatric mental health nursing or nursing executive certification.
Experience: Three years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Prior experience in managerial role such as charge nurse or supervisor.
