Position Summary

Our client, a family owned warehousing and distribution company in Pennsauken, NJ, has engaged us to find their next Transportation Manager. We are seeking a growth-oriented, tech-savvy Transportation Manager to lead and optimize our transportation operations. This role is ideal for a proactive problem-solver who thrives on building efficient systems, improving processes, and identifying new opportunities to grow the business, enhance service, reduce costs, and support company expansion. The Transportation Manager will oversee a team of company employed, non-union drivers and ensure safe, compliant, and high-performing delivery operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily transportation operations, including routing, scheduling, and dispatch
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of company drivers to ensure high performance, safety, and accountability
  • Continuously identify opportunities for operational improvement, cost savings, and service enhancement
  • Leverage technology, including company Transportation Management System (TMS), GPS tracking systems, etc. to optimize efficiency and visibility
  • Analyze transportation data and KPIs to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Working with the team to ensure compliance with all DOT, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the warehouse, customer service, compliance, finance and the executive team to align operations
  • Develop and implement scalable processes to support company growth
  • Manage fleet utilization, maintenance coordination, and vendor relationships as needed

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution management
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising drivers or field teams
  • Hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and transportation-related technology
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and improve operational performance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a growth-oriented environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree a plus (Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related is a big plus)
