Employment Status: Part Time, Hourly | Non-Exempt

Location: On Site | In Person

Department: Guest Experience

Salary: $15.00/Hour

Reports To: Director of Guest Experience

Position Summary:

Imagination Crew Members provide frontline guest engagement support at Omaha Children’s Museum (OCM) by creating welcoming, engaging, and educational experiences for children and families through play-based learning and exhibit facilitation. As part-time Imagination Crew Members, individuals support a variety of interactive experiences throughout the museum, including operating interactive features, facilitating movement and imaginative play, guiding hands-on learning activities, and engaging guests in exhibit spaces such as interactive activity stations and themed learning environments. Imagination Crew Members also support daily museum operations by maintaining exhibit readiness through routine resetting, cleaning, and organization, while representing OCM with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to safety, inclusion, and exceptional guest service.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Engagement

  • Initiate welcoming and inclusive interactions with guests of all ages.
  • Engage children and caregivers in hands-on exhibits through play, conversation, and guided exploration.
  • Support interactive experiences and activity stations assigned.

Exhibit Support

  • Reset, clean, and organize exhibits throughout the day to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Monitor exhibit areas and communicate safety or maintenance concerns to leadership.
  • Assist with guest flow and operational needs during peak attendance times.

Team Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and accountability for scheduled shifts.
  • Participate in required training and demonstrate willingness to learn new exhibits, programs, and procedures.
  • Follow museum policies related to safety, conduct, and guest interaction.
  • Support weekends, weekdays, and occasional evening events as scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Positive and adaptable attitude that contributes to the success of Team OCM.
  • Desire to initiate conversations with guests of all ages.
  • Maintains accountability for assigned tasks while meeting performance expectations.
  • Ability to learn new skills and acquire knowledge on exhibits, programs, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills while interacting with guests and team members.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Customer service, education, childcare, camp, or youth program experience preferred.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, interactive environment with frequent guest interaction.
  • Ability to learn multiple workstations and exhibit procedures.

Physical Qualification:

  • Remain on feet for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive tasks related to exhibit upkeep and guest engagement.
  • Push or pull light equipment, such as small carts and wheeled cases.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.

Opportunities for pay increases may be available upon completion of training and demonstrated proficiency across various workstations. Compensation adjustments are based on operational needs and performance expectations.
