For nearly 50 years, Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op has been committed to sustainable business practices, growing the local foods movement, and supporting our community. Last year alone, we contributed over$202,500 in donations to local food shelves, nonprofits, and shopper discounts. With 33% of our sales coming from Vermont producers, that's nearly $8 million supporting over 400 local vendors, we are deeply invested in our local economy.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with administrative experience looking to move into marketing, or for someone early in their marketing career looking to build their portfolio and gain valuable experience across many facets of marketing.

What You'll Do

  • Program and Administrative Support: Monitor and maintain programs like Food for All, Co-op Connection, and Co-op Explorers. Assist with data entry, documentation, and customer service tasks ranging from managing donation requests to helping answer phones.
  • Manage Digital Outreach: Schedule and monitor social media posts, support website content updates, and assist with digital ad placements. Write web content as needed, and edit recurring weekly web posts for clarity and accuracy.
  • Support Event Planning and Logistics: Help organize and coordinate the details of in-store and off-site events, demos, and our Annual Meeting.
  • Collaborate and Learn: Work closely with the Marketing Manager to stay aligned on marketing goals, share ideas, and grow your marketing skills through hands-on experience.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong Communicator: You are a proficient writer and editor, and have an eye for clean, engaging content.
  • Digital Savvy: Familiarity with social media platforms like Meta Business Suite; basic marketing experience with CMS, email platforms, and Word press is a plus. Interest in and experience with social media marketing is a huge plus.
  • Detail-Oriented and Reliable: Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on tasks. Able to work independently on routine assignments.
  • Team-Oriented: Collaborative, open to feedback, and eager to contribute to a hard-working team within a community-focused workplace.
  • Natural Foods Curiosity: Interest in co-ops, sustainability, or local food is ideal – no prior industry experience required (we are happy to train the right person).
