Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Required Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Certification
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent certification
Required Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of Sterile Processing experience
- Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in a Sterile Processing environment

Key ResponsibilitiesStaff & Workflow Management
- Supervise and coordinate daily Sterile Processing Department operations
- Assign workloads and monitor staff productivity
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and efficient workflow
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to department personnel
Quality Assurance & Sterilization Oversight
- Oversee sterilization processes and quality control activities
- Monitor biological, chemical, and mechanical sterilization indicators
- Ensure instruments and equipment are processed according to established standards
- Investigate and resolve quality concerns and processing discrepancies
Training & Development
- Train, mentor, and evaluate Sterile Processing staff
- Conduct competency assessments and ongoing education
- Support employee development and performance improvement initiatives
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- The Joint Commission (TJC)
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)
- Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation
Instrument & Equipment Management
- Oversee inventory and availability of surgical instruments and equipment
- Monitor equipment maintenance and functionality
- Manage instrument tracking processes and operational readiness
Collaboration
- Partner with Surgical Services, Nursing, Infection Prevention, and other departments
- Participate in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
