Job Description

Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling precision fiber cable components by following detailed blueprints and work instructions in a clean room environment. You will measure, cut, and prepare fiber cables, accurately feed small colored wires through connectors, apply epoxy, and complete curing, polishing, and testing processes to ensure high-quality, reliable assemblies. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with very small parts under microscopes or projection scopes, and a commitment to producing consistent, high-precision work in a growing production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, and place fiber cable into clips according to blueprints and enlarged work instructions.
  • Feed each colored wire through the appropriate connector in the exact required order, ensuring perfect accuracy.
  • Apply a precise drop of epoxy to the assembly and pull the wires through to create a uniform coating over the entire wire surface.
  • Place completed assemblies into curing devices to properly dry and set the epoxy coating.
  • Run assemblies through a final polishing stage to achieve the required finish and performance standards.
  • Test completed assemblies to confirm all connections function correctly and meet quality requirements.
  • Use small hand tools, microscopes, or projection scopes to assemble and inspect components as needed.
  • Work with very small parts and wiring while maintaining focus, accuracy, and consistency throughout the shift.
  • Follow clean room procedures and maintain a neat, organized work area to support high-quality production.
  • Contribute to process improvement by sharing observations, suggestions, and feedback as the new division develops and refines its operations.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to learn evolving processes and help stabilize workflows in a rapidly growing environment.
  • Adhere to production schedules, including occasional overtime, to meet customer and business needs.

Essential Skills

  • 6 months to 1+ year of manufacturing experience, specifically with small parts assembly or medical device assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble small components with precision and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to understand instructions and collaborate with the team.
  • Ability to accurately distinguish and identify colors, as each wire must be placed in the correct order based on color coding.
  • Experience working under a microscope or strong ability and comfort to perform tasks using a microscope or projection scope.
  • Capability to follow blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation accurately.
  • Comfort using small hand tools for delicate assembly work.
  • Reliability in maintaining consistent quality and productivity in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in clean room or controlled environment assembly.
  • Experience in guidewire, catheter, wire, medical, or electronics assembly.
  • Familiarity with production environments that require strict process adherence and quality standards.
  • Comfort working with epoxy, curing processes, and polishing stages.
  • Willingness to adapt to new processes and evolving procedures in a startup-like division.
  • Interest in contributing ideas for process improvement and workflow optimization.

Why Work Here?

You will join a new, rapidly growing division where early team members have strong potential to advance quickly into leadership, supervisory, quality, and other roles as the operation scales. The organization emphasizes overall wellbeing, offering a comprehensive benefits package designed to support physical, financial, and emotional health, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending and health savings accounts, life and disability coverage, retirement benefits, paid vacation and time off, educational assistance, and may include support such as infertility assistance, paid parental leave, and adoption assistance, subject to plan eligibility. The culture values flexibility and recognizes that each person has unique work and personal needs, aiming to create a work environment that enables people and the business to succeed together while delivering superior results.

Work Environment

This role is based in a newly renovated, modern facility that continues to receive upgrades and improvements. You will work in a new division that is just starting up, with a small team expected to grow to nearly 100 people within the next 6–9 months. Early hires should expect some initial lack of structure as processes are being built and refined, and should be comfortable helping to shape procedures, suggest improvements, and support a rapidly evolving operation. The production area is a clean room environment that does not require traditional clean room dress; business casual attire is appropriate, and there are no specific restrictions related to clothing, jewelry, or perfumes, provided you can safely and effectively handle small parts. Assemblers/operators wear a smock over their clothing as the primary dress requirement. Gloves and safety glasses are available and may be worn by choice, although current assemblies do not require them as mandatory personal protective equipment. The position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with Fridays used for overtime as needed. The environment offers hands-on work with small hand tools, microscopes, and projection scopes, and suits individuals who enjoy detailed, precise assembly work in a clean, organized production setting with significant growth and advancement opportunities.
