Hiring an Administrative Support Specialist!
Job Description
This Administrative Support role focuses on processing payments and balancing accounts within a credit clearing environment. You will handle payments received by mail, online, and in person, prepare and format payment letters, and help ensure that account information remains accurate and up to date. The position offers a 90-day contract-to-hire path with growth opportunities in a stable, growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Process payments received by mail, internet, and in-person accurately and in a timely manner.
- Post and apply payments to the correct accounts while maintaining accurate records.
- Balance accounts and reconcile payment activity according to established procedures.
- Format and edit payment letters using word processing tools to ensure clarity and professionalism.
- Edit and maintain Excel spreadsheets related to payment letters and account information.
- Follow detailed, step-by-step procedures for payment processing to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Assist with answering incoming phone calls as needed and provide courteous, professional support.
- Collaborate with team members on shared projects and support collective goals.
- Work independently for most of the day, managing time effectively and staying focused on assigned tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and account information responsibly.
Qualifications:
- Proven background in payment processing, including posting and applying payments.
- Experience in collections or healthcare-related financial operations.
- Familiarity with healthcare terminology as it relates to billing and payments.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in formatting letters and working with Excel spreadsheets.
- High attention to detail with the ability to follow many steps and complex procedures accurately.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently for extended periods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting by phone and preparing written correspondence.
- Experience in a healthcare setting or with healthcare billing and payment processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and organization.

The company is a small, privately owned organization that has been in business for approximately 50 years and is currently experiencing growth, adding new team members to support increased demand. The role offers a 90-day contract-to-hire structure, with the potential for long-term employment and career advancement. The daily work involves significant independent focus time, complemented by team interaction and occasional phone support. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
