Description

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients of all age groups using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick techniques. This role ensures accurate labeling, processing, and documentation of specimens while maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety. Key Responsibilities: Greet patients and verify identity prior to specimen collection. Perform blood draws using aseptic techniques on infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. 50-60 draws per day Label and process specimens accurately and promptly. Maintain and stock phlebotomy stations and exam rooms with necessary supplies. Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality assurance protocols. Enter test orders and patient data into the laboratory information system. Assist with specimen transport and coordination with laboratory staff. Provide compassionate care and reassurance to patients during procedures. Participate in training, quality improvement, and team meetings as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Pediatric experience is a huge plus High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA) preferred. Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $24.00/hr.
