Job Description
We are currently looking for an experienced professional to take on a senior leadership role within refinery operations at a major industrial site. This position serves as a key technical authority within a designated processing area, supporting safe, efficient, and reliable production activities.
About the Role
The Senior Production Lead acts as the primary resource for operational expertise within a unit or asset area. This individual plays a central role in maintaining high standards of operational discipline, ensuring procedures and documentation are accurate and consistently applied.
You will also contribute to workforce development by supporting training initiatives for new and transitioning operators, while offering leadership continuity by stepping in for senior operational management when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and uphold process safety through strict adherence to established procedures, including permit systems, operating limits, and change management practices
- Support completion of safety and compliance-related actions arising from audits, investigations, and risk assessments
- Lead or participate in investigations into incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending improvements
- Coordinate and contribute to operational meetings, planning sessions, and prioritisation activities within the asset team
- Assist in planning and execution of maintenance shutdowns in collaboration with engineering and scheduling teams
- Ensure effective communication between shift-based operations teams and broader asset leadership
- Maintain and improve operational documentation such as checklists, procedures, and routine activity guides
Candidate Profile
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required; further technical or engineering-related education is advantageous
- Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in operations within refining, petrochemical, or similar industrial environments
- Strong understanding of process safety principles and operational best practices
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support teams in a dynamic operational setting
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
