Summary:
The Peer Specialist provides recovery-oriented support, advocacy, and mentorship to individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring challenges. Drawing on lived experience, the Peer Specialist helps clients build coping skills, strengthen self-advocacy, and engage with community resources to promote recovery, wellness, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use personal lived experience to engage and support individuals in identifying and achieving recovery goals.
- Facilitate one-on-one peer counseling sessions and group support meetings in a trauma-informed, person-centered manner.
- Encourage clients to develop self-advocacy, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate with clinical and case management staff to ensure coordinated care and consistent follow-up.
- Assist clients in accessing community-based services, such as housing, education, employment, and healthcare resources.
- Model positive coping strategies and recovery-oriented behaviors.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and progress.
- Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development activities.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical boundaries in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
