SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Quality Engineering designee, the Quality Inspector may perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of cable and connector components, CNC parts, and cable assemblies. The Quality Inspector will provide support for the department to which they are assigned (CNC, Cable Assembly, Incoming, etc.). The quality inspector may also support random internal audits of the production process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides inspection criteria knowledge in order to meet quality, cost, and on-time delivery goals
- Uses standard metrology tools such as Micrometers, Digital Indicators, Comparators, Plain Plugs, Plain Rings, Thread Plugs & Rings, Profilometer
- Ability to measure accurately and record clear, concise data on internal and external documents
- Uses microscopes to make pass/fail decisions for attribute defects based on customer requirements/standards
- Interprets basic blueprint & engineering specification
- Performs final inspection of products and materials using engineering drawings and Process Control Drawings as required. Completes final inspection reports and first article inspection reports as required
- Ability to generate material non-conformance reports
- Good communication skills with co-workers, engineering, and varying support personnel
- Able to work in a clean room environment supporting space grade cable assembly production
- Learns and maintains X-Ray Evaluator certification for finished product
- Ability to Fixture and run parts on advanced measurement systems
- Performs internal calibrations when required
- Performs setup, in-process, & final inspections following a Quality Inspection Plan and maintain third party quality records

The responsibilities of this role do not include supervising other employees; however, Quality Inspector positions offer opportunities for career advancement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school education or equivalent
- Two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, inspection experience preferred
- Ability to work within the requirements of an ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality system
- Basic computer skill sets including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
- Experience using ERP system, preferably SAP
- Willingness to work in a flexible environment and is willing to be cross trained on multiple products and processes
- Ability to execute tasks assigned with minimum supervision
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- ASQ Certification preferred
- J-STD-001 and J-STD-001 Space Addendum Certification preferred
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
JOB SKILLS
- Experience within the Aerospace Industry with exposure to AS9100 regulations preferred
- Outstanding organizational skills and experience with managing multiple deadlines at once
- Strong technical skills including the ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Proficient in communicating information to individuals and groups in both written and presentation form
- Strong desire to work in a team made up of a cross functional group of individuals
- Self-starter that can work extended hours as required to satisfy customer deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office
- Experience utilizing an ERP system required (SAP preferred)
- Writing skills required to complete documents and forms
- Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
- ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
- Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
- Hearing protection in specific locations
- Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
