As a Thermal R&D Engineer on our Power Solutions R&D engineering team, you will work in collaboration within the cross-functional team and with customers to develop the latest technology for the Power Solutions product portfolio. This position will provide thermal engineering support to our team and our customer’s program, and associated engineers. The role is responsible for the use of thermal models/analyses, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, and lab test correlation to drive thermal management of our product development and product solutions for our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide accurate modeling, thermal simulations, and characterization of power products and system architecture
- Correlate simulation results with test data
- Provide design guidance and consideration to customers on power applications against their design requirements.
- Perform design feasibility experiments and verifications to determine thermal impact of product solutions.
- Build technical relationships with our customer’s engineering and thermal teams.
- Provide world class technical support to our customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in CFD simulation and thermal analysis.
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermal dynamics, thermal management of electronics, and advanced electronic cooling methods and thermal compliance testing standards.
- Experience with direct liquid cooling is a plus.
- Familiar with commercial CFD tools, including ANSYS Icepak and/or similar software package (e.g., FloTHERM)
- Familiar with EIA, UL standards
- Proficient in mechanical design and 3D modeling using PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) and/or SolidWorks.
- Strong skills of presenting thermal solutions and thermal analysis results to internal design teams, high level leadership, and external customers engineering teams.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to express technical content clearly and concisely, work with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, marketing, sales, etc.
