Position Summary
The Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the behavioral health department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while meeting organizational goals related to quality, safety, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day department operations and ensuring 24/7 coverage
- Developing and overseeing staff schedules and staffing plans
- Participating in hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes
- Collaborating with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
- Driving quality improvement initiatives and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Monitoring departmental performance metrics and implementing process improvements
- Supporting and mentoring staff to promote professional development and engagement
- Ensuring adherence to accreditation standards and organizational policies
Qualifications
Education & Licensure:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (or compact licensure, as applicable)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
Certifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) – required within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 30 days of hire
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) – required within ninety days of hire
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of behavioral health nursing experience in an acute care setting
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Coordinator, Supervisor, or Nurse Manager) in an acute care environment
