Road Machinery & Supplies Co. (RMS) is searching for a Field Service Electrician to join its team at its Langer Branch in the Virginia, MN area focused on supporting Komatsu and Epiroc equipment. As a Field Service Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components on mining and construction equipment. Your primary focus will be on delivering top-notch service to our customers, ensuring that their equipment is safe, reliable, and performing at optimal levels. You will be the service repair contact of RMS for the customers you serve in your regional area. You will be the subject matter expert on GE Drive Systems, HV electrical power systems as well as machine automation and Komatsu Intelligent machines.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as point-of-contact between customers and RMS teams to ensure timely completion of work orders and drive growth in service labor sales.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on complex heavy equipment systems in the field.
  • Install, maintain and configure electrical components and systems in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to maintain equipment performance and reliability.
  • Document service work thoroughly, maintaining accurate and timely reports on job status, progress, and completed tasks.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  • Collaborate with engineering and support teams to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Utilize various computer programs and OEM software along with RMS resources to complete jobs, utilizing operator manuals, technical drawings, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
  • Test equipment after repair and assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance has been achieved.
  • Maintain company service vehicle, inventory, tools, and equipment adhering to DOT and MSHA compliance.
  • Complete other duties as assigned to include assisting with some mechanical tasks, etc.
  • Keep updated with knowledge of Komatsu, Epiroc and competitor products through vendor, internal, and online training.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Ability to identify complex issues and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Prior experience with VFDs, MCC, GE drive systems and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Proven experience in industrial electrical systems, especially in field service capacity.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • Possess a current valid driver’s license with a clean record and the ability to successfully pass drug and fitness for duty tests.
  • Complete required documentation, reports, and repairs efficiently and ahead of deadlines using standard computer systems.
  • Adapt quickly to new procedures, technology, and structure with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed with some overnight travel.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks while working responsibly, independently, and with intelligent decision-making.
  • Have the desire to take action, improve, and be appreciative.
  • Possess the capability to engage and communicate with customers, co-workers, and vendors in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
  • Lift bulky objects
  • Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, high steps, grasping.
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise levels may be loud at times.
