Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist – Bayonet Point, FL

Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Nights | Rotating Weekends
Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Compensation:

• Hourly Pay Range: $27.09 – $37.92 (based on experience)

• Night Differential: $2.50/hr

• On-Call Pay: $2.00/hr

• Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 (Night Shift)

• Relocation Assistance: Available (case-by-case)

Job Description

Overview

An acute care hospital laboratory in Bayonet Point, Florida is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist to support overnight laboratory operations.

This role requires strong independent judgment, broad technical competency, and the ability to manage laboratory workflow autonomously while ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant test results across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform STAT and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical areas

• Apply laboratory theory and independent judgment to ensure accuracy and turnaround time

• Maintain competency and scheduled coverage in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology

• Perform specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as required

• Utilize laboratory information systems to document and manage patient results

• Perform quality control procedures and take corrective action when results fall outside acceptable parameters

• Review pending and result logs; resolve outstanding workload or communicate effectively during handoffs

• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and perform routine maintenance

• Support regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., CAP and other accrediting bodies)

• Handle critical values and problem specimens according to established protocols

• Support departmental goals related to quality, service, compliance, and patient safety

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate Degree in Medical Technology or related science

• Active Florida Medical Technologist license (or ability to obtain during interview process)

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Demonstrated competency in multiple laboratory disciplines

• Ability to work independently and manage overnight lab operations

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field

• Prior experience in acute care or hospital-based laboratories
