Role Overview
The Lead Tank Technician is responsible for washing tank trailers within company and customer guidelines, assigning tasks to cleaners under his/her responsibility, and to ensure tanks cleaned by team members on the Lead’s designated shift are cleaned in a timely and quality manner according to Quala and customer standards.
Position Responsibilities
- Monitor productivity of cleaning shifts and operations; seek opportunities to enhance performance to meet customer requests, report weakness and failures, and assist Facility Manager in preventing reoccurrence.
- With Facility Manager’s assistance, coordinate and communicate work schedules, equipment needs, inbound cleaning requirements, and customer needs.
- Assist Facility Manager with physical inventories of cleaning products, parts, and other miscellaneous supplies by checking inventories and communicating needs.
- Assist in the scheduling preventive maintenance and required repair work to be performed on the cleaning rack equipment, pumps, spinners, boilers, and other apparatus.
- Assist in on-boarding new technicians by training them on the process and ensuring they understand and comply with Quala policies and procedures.
- Perform all duties of a Tank Technician: Properly disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble tank internally and externally, including vents, valves, clean-out caps, clamps, loading/unloading lines, hoses and other equipment that is to be cleaned as per normal tank cleaning procedure.
- Properly operate atmospheric testing equipment and understand the use and care of rescue equipment used in confined space rescue.
- Through company provided literature and training, familiarize self with and comply with all existing Federal, State, Local and Company requirements, rules, and regulations that pertain to personal safety and environmental compliance in the performance of duties. Ensure team members also comply with all rules and regulations.
- Maintain an environment of cleanliness and safety within the wash facility and complete all paperwork as required by the Company.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience in tank wash
- Proven ability to direct and lead a team of others to meet production goals
- Mechanical ability and inclination
- Excellent attention to details
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English for comprehension of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) chemical information
- Must be able to navigate basic computer software and other business related software as it relates to completion of shipping and receiving paperwork and online safety training programs
