THE ROLE

As a Residential Sales Electrician at JDP Electric, you’ll handle residential electrical service, repair, and installation while also serving as a trusted advisor to homeowners. On every call, you’ll diagnose the issue, present repair and upgrade options using our structured pricing, and help the customer make an informed decision. Some appointments will be dedicated estimates for larger projects. You’ll also obtain customer authorization and process payment or financing options at the completion of each job.

This is a hands-on technical role and the majority of your day is spent face-to-face with homeowners — diagnosing, presenting options, and closing. If you love solving problems, helping people, and getting paid well to do both — this is the position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

✓ Perform residential electrical service calls, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable New Jersey state and local regulations.
✓ Present multiple repair and upgrade options to homeowners on every service call using JDP Electric's structured pricing system, clearly explaining scope, benefits, and value.
✓ Assist customers in evaluating repair vs. replacement options and help them choose the solution that fits their home and budget.
✓ Obtain customer authorization and signatures for payment or financing at job completion.
✓ Run dedicated estimate appointments for larger residential projects including panel upgrades, EV charger installations, generator installations, whole-home surge protection, and rewiring.
✓ Deliver an outstanding customer experience on every call — communicate professionally, respect the customer's home, and follow up as needed.
✓ Maintain accurate job documentation using Housecall Pro and CompanyCam, including photos, notes, and real-time status updates.
✓ Travel to job sites throughout central New Jersey in your company truck and work with the office team (dispatch and CSR) to keep scheduling on track and ensure delays are communicated promptly to customers.
✓ Represent JDP Electric's brand and values in every customer interaction, actively contributing to our 5-star reputation.

QUALIFICATIONS
✓ Required: Minimum of 3 years of verifiable residential electrical experience with a demonstrated track record of presenting options and closing sales in a home service environment.
✓ Advantage: Journeyman License
✓ Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
✓ Own basic hand tools required for residential electrical work.
✓ Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
✓ Proven ability to educate homeowners, present service options, and help them make confident purchasing decisions.
✓ Commitment to integrity, honesty, and professionalism in every interaction.
✓ No mandatory on-call rotations. Occasional after-hours availability may be needed during high-demand periods or emergencies, but we don't put you on a rotating on-call schedule.
✓ Willingness to pursue and participate in continuing education as required by New Jersey electrical licensing regulations.
