Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Machinist to join our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining EDM equipment to produce high-precision aerospace components. This role requires a deep understanding of EDM processes, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and operate various types of EDM machines, including wire EDM and sinker EDM equipment
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements
- Program EDM machines using CAM software and manual programming techniques
- Perform test runs to ensure proper machine setup and operation
- Make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal cutting performance and precision
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all machined parts meet or exceed quality standards and specifications
- Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records
- Identify and report any quality issues or deviations from specifications
- Collaborate with quality assurance team to implement improvements and corrective actions
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on EDM machines and related equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and performance issues
- Perform basic repairs and adjustments to ensure optimal machine performance
- Coordinate with maintenance team for more complex repairs and servicing
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S principles
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve EDM processes and increase efficiency
- Suggest and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and enhance product quality
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing projects
- Stay updated on the latest EDM technologies and industry best practices
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors
- Participate in safety training and workshops as required
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards
