About the Role


The Sexual Assault Registered Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. This will include a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings. The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or management of the SANE program for which the SANE is employed. The SANE is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.


Responsibilities



  • Assure quality care by adhering to standards set by the physicians
  • Provide care education to patients in person or over the phone
  • Adhere to compliance guidelines throughout processes (OSHA, FDA, HIPAA)



Qualifications



  • Must be a Registered Professional Nurse with current licensure
  • Completed approved Illinois SANE training (40 hours of Didactic coursework)
  • Completed the initial Pediatric SANE training within 6 months of hire
  • CPR, ACLS, and BCLS, TNCC Certification
  • Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and HIPAA compliance
  • Candidate must be able to lift and position patients on endoscopy stretcher and transport patients
