Upstate Veterinary Specialties (UVS) is a privately owned, multidisciplinary specialty and emergency hospital providing advanced veterinary care throughout New York State's Capital Region and beyond. Our 24/7 hospital combines exceptional emergency and critical care services with a collaborative team of board-certified specialists dedicated to delivering the highest standard of patient care.

Our cardiology service is supported by highly skilled Licensed Veterinary Technicians, including two Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS) in cardiology. Specialists work alongside experienced assistants, client care professionals, hospital administrators, and an engaged leadership team committed to clinical excellence and professional fulfillment.


Position Overview

Due to continued growth and increasing demand, UVS is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible cardiologist to join our established and thrivingservice. This is an exciting opportunity to become the fifth cardiologist in a collaborative, well-supported specialty hospital with a broad referral network spanning Upstate New York, the Mid-Hudson Valley, Western New England, and surrounding regions.


The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing exceptional patient care, mentoring support staff, and contributing to the continued growth of our cardiology department. Candidates with interests in advanced imaging, interventional cardiology, or expanding procedural capabilities are especially encouraged to apply.


Qualifications:

  • DACVIM (Cardiology) board certification or board eligibility
  • Residents currently enrolled in an accredited cardiology residency program are encouraged to apply

UVS operates from a custom-built, 45,000-square-foot facility designed to support advanced specialty medicine.


Our cardiology department features:

  • Three dedicated cardiology examination rooms
  • Three independent echocardiography laboratories
  • Dedicated fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures
  • Flexible imaging configurations tailored to individual clinician preferences


Advanced Equipment Includes

  • Three Philips EPIQ CVx echocardiography systems
  • Multiple 2D imaging probes
  • Advanced 3D echocardiography capabilities (X5-1 and X7-2 probes)
  • 3D transesophageal echocardiography probe (X7-2T)
  • OEC 9800 C-arm fluoroscopy system
  • Two digital radiography units (Asteris PACS)
  • 64-slice Toshiba CT scanner with power injector for CT angiography
  • Mitral V-clamp (TEER) inventory, capability, and caseload


Additional equipment requests will be considered for candidates interested in expanding our interventional cardiology offerings (biplane fluoroscopy, dedicated cath lab echocardiography system, etc.).

Our interventional procedures are supported by a dedicated Anesthesiology and Pain Management service, while our 24/7 ICU is staffed by three board-certified criticalists and two hospitalists.

Salary

  • $200,000–$300,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
